Reasons Why I Love Tivo

by

I love watching television. I watch many hours of TV every day. And I believe that using my Tivo is the best way to watch TV. I cannot conceive of watching TV without it. Here are my favorite things about Tivo.

  • I Can Watch TV Anytime. With Tivo, I can pause live TV when I get a phone call. Or rewind a show a few seconds to listen to a joke I missed. Also, I don’t need to rush home in order to watch the latest episode of 24. Tivo records every episode of any show on TV so you don’t miss a thing.
  • I Don’t Miss Shows That I Love. Using Tivo’s Season Pass, I can set every episode to record so that I catch every show of the season. No more, “Dang, I missed that episode.â€?
  • I Catch New Shows. Tivo pays attention to what I watch and record and recommends shows for me to watch. Many times the shows are so-so, but sometimes I get some very fascinating shows that I might have missed.
  • I Don’t Need a Telephone Line. Tivo needs to connect to the central server every night in order to download new TV listing information. But I got rid of my land line to take advantage of Tivo’s connection through my home network.
  • I Use WiFi To Connect. Not only does Tivo use my home network, but I bought an Wi-Fi adapter so now it connects wirelessly. It’s a lot better than having to string along an Ethernet cable to the Tivo from my router.
  • I Can Search and Program Tivo Over the Internet. Tivo allows users to search and record shows from Tivo.com. That means you can avoid having to use the clunky on-screen keyboard and use your computer. Also, you can search and record shows anywhere you have an Internet connection, like at work.
  • I Can Transfer TV Shows to My Computer. With Tivo2Go, I can download shows from my Tivo onto my computer. Then I can burn them onto a DVD and watch it later. It’s a great way to save shows that you don’t want to delete from Tivo.
  • I Can Watch Shows From Popular Internet Sites. I download content from shows like Rocketboom, Heavy, com and Cnet. It’s an interesting twist to be able to get Internet shows from my Tivo.
  • I Can Listen to Music From My Computer Using Tivo. My computer and Tivo are networked, so I can play music through Tivo. And I have an extensive library on my network. This gives me a new way to enjoy my music.
  • I Can Watch Photos From My Computer Using Tivo. Similarly, I can browse through photos on my computer. I can also log in to Yahoo Pictures and view photos that way.
  • Well, that’s it for now. What are your favorite things about Tivo?

I’m feeling you on the wireless / phoneless connection… but I think the ability to search / program Tivo from the internet really, really rocks. My old Replay had that ability, but took 24 hours to update recordings. With my new Tivo, I can think of a show I forgot to record and set the recording from work - and it updates within an hour or so.
